Whether you want to go into private practice or on to graduate school, Jack Williams DDS Family Dentistry’s residency in Private Practice Dentistry Long Beach CA gives you the clinical experience to be prepared.
Our one-year program exposes you to patients whose needs range from basic dental care to advanced restorative dentistry, implants and oral surgery. This variety of patients comes from our position as a major provider of primary medical and dental care, a regional referral center and Delaware’s only Level I trauma center.
Choosing one of the nation’s largest teaching institutions for your residency puts you into a four-chair dental clinic that is fully equipped to work with an attending or assistant. There, you get hands-on training in all of the dental specialties. Another strength of the program is the opportunity to work, under direct supervision, in the operating room, where you treat special-needs patients who have complex medical, behavioral and anatomical problems.
The program includes several special rotations. You work in our health system’s emergency and anesthesia departments. You practice oral medicine and oral pathology as part of a medical team treating pediatric and medically-compromised patients- Private Practice Dentistry Long Beach CA. You also go outside the hospital to work in urban and rural clinics. Working in these clinics broadens your exposure to different practice environments. You also treat patients who otherwise would not get dental care and gain an understanding of the access-to-care problems affecting most states and communities.
The Section of Implantology provides about 250 hours of clinical training and instruction in treating patients who would benefit from implants. You learn how to create and execute a treatment plan. One afternoon each week is specifically dedicated to implant prosthodontics and seminars.
These experiences help you to refine your dental skills and allow you to interact with other
dental professionals who can help you build your career. Our staff includes doctors who work full-time at our hospitals as well as dentists of all specialties who volunteer their time to the program.
